about -> me

Hello, my name is Julie Chisholm. I'm an interactive project manager and information architect. This website details my educational background, work experience, and some of my web interests.
Educational Background
Public Relations
I’m a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) in Halifax, NS. I received a Bachelor of Public Relations degree and took the cooperative education option to get over a year’s worth of experience prior to graduation. The program was challenging and provided me some well-rounded skills in communications and media.
Information Architecture & Web Design
I'm a graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), in Vancouver, BC. I earned a management certificate in New Media Design & Web Development management certificate in April 2008.
Project Management
I’m working towards obtaining my Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification. I’ve completed the requisite work experience hours. Now, I’m self studying the PMBOK and working towards the required course hours. Hopefully I’ll be able to write the exam in early 2009.
Work
My work experience spans multiple facets of marketing, including client and agency-side corporate communications, event management, interactive marketing project management and website planning.
I got my start in a corporate communications role for EDS Canada Inc. in Nova Scotia. From there I moved to Toronto and took a hybrid communications and event management role at a small agency. I really enjoyed planning and designing large-scale events, especially the websites and databases required to manage each event. My experience in managing a network of freelancers to create client websites led me to my most recent role at Digital Cement.
There, I expanded my project management skills working with large functional teams to design and execute complex interactive marketing projects. I had the opportunity to take on a functional management role and became the leader of a team of 10 project managers.
My resume explains my experience, roles and projects in more detail.
Personal
I keep a blog about my thoughts and ideas of what’s happening on the web these days. I often fall behind in posting, and I often feel guilty about that.
When I have a moment, I’ll use it up trying to cook a new dish for dinner or by reading blogs and mags online. I’ve recently rediscovered downhill skiing, and I love exploring new parts of whatever city I happen to be in. I love hot yoga, biking about town, and watching documentary films.
